Contents
These terms are an agreement between you and Alejandro Garcia, Balkenweg 23, 4460 Gelterkinden, Switzerland ("we", "us") for the Ordo Mail app for Mac and the Auto Sort service. By using Ordo Mail you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Licence #
Ordo Mail is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/). These terms add to that agreement for the Auto Sort service. If the two conflict on the software licence itself, Apple's agreement applies.
2. What Ordo Mail does #
- Free: a mail app for Gmail, iCloud Mail and other IMAP mailboxes. You can read, search, write, reply, delete and move mail, create labels and label mail by hand. The free app needs only your mail account. It works without Auto Sort, without a time limit, and mail that is not sorted simply stays in your inbox.
- Auto Sort (paid subscription): each new inbox email is read by an AI service and gets one of your labels, and from time to time a label review proposes improvements to your labels, which you accept or dismiss.
You need your own mail account, such as Gmail or iCloud Mail, and the password your provider gives mail apps (for Gmail and iCloud Mail, an app password from Google or Apple). Those accounts are governed by your provider's terms, not by ours. If your provider changes or ends password access for mail apps, the affected mailbox may stop working in Ordo Mail; this is outside our control.
Ordo Mail shows the newest mail of your Inbox, Sent, Drafts and Archive. Older mail and Trash stay in your mail provider's own apps.
3. Free emails #
Each installation of Ordo Mail can sort up to 500 emails with Auto Sort, once, free of charge and without a subscription. Auto Sort needs your permission to send email extracts to the AI service (section 5). Once you have started Auto Sort (in the first-run setup or with Turn On Auto Sort), the labels it chooses for these emails are written into your mailbox, and moved out of the inbox where you chose that, just as with a subscription. The free emails do not include a label review. When the 500 emails are used, Auto Sort stops sorting new mail until you subscribe; the labels already added stay, and the mail app keeps working.
4. Auto Sort subscription #
- Name: Auto Sort
- Plans: one Auto Sort, with the same features in every plan:
- Monthly: USD 1.99 per month. Renews every month; cancel any time.
- Yearly: USD 14.99 per year, paid at once. Renews every year.
- Price: the local price shown in the app before you buy applies. Prices include tax where the App Store shows them that way.
- Trying it first: the subscription has no free trial period. The 500 free emails of section 3 are the way to try Auto Sort. When you subscribe, your Apple Account is charged at once: the monthly price or the yearly price.
- Fair use, in each paid month (also on the yearly plans):
- up to 3,000 sorted emails across all your mailboxes. Emails that are already in your inbox when you turn Auto Sort on (the first backlog) count towards this number, and so do emails that are sorted again;
- up to 2 label reviews. A label review starts by itself when enough mail has been sorted (the first after 300 sorted emails; later ones when at least 150 new emails have landed in Review and at least 30 days have passed). It is never required and its results are only proposals.
- Look-back: when you turn Auto Sort on, you choose how many of the newest emails in each mailbox are sorted: 50, 200 or 500. The default is 200.
- Reaching a limit: when the emails of a paid month are used up, Auto Sort pauses until the next paid month begins. New mail still arrives in your inbox, unsorted. Nothing is lost and you are never charged extra. The app shows your usage in its Auto Sort settings. A "month" here is one billing period of your subscription; on the yearly plan paid at once, each month of the year counts from the day you bought it.
- Payment: charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- Renewal: the subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (a month or a year) at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancelling: at any time in your App Store account settings (in the App Store app: your name › your name again › Subscriptions › Auto Sort › Cancel Subscription; or https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions). Auto Sort stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
- Refunds: purchases are made through Apple, and Apple handles refunds under its own policy (https://reportaproblem.apple.com). Rights you have under mandatory consumer law are not affected.
- Price changes: we will tell you in advance; Apple will ask for your agreement where required. If you do not agree, the subscription ends at the end of the paid period.
- Family Sharing: not available for Auto Sort.
The subscription belongs to the Apple Account that bought it and works on every Mac signed in to that account. The allowances are shared across those Macs. "Restore Purchases" in the app finds an existing subscription.
5. AI results and your permission #
Auto Sort sends short extracts of your email through our server to an AI service. It does this only after you have agreed on the permission screen in the app, and you can withdraw that permission in Settings at any time. What is sent, to whom and how it is protected is described in the Privacy Policy: https://ordomail.app/privacy.
AI models estimate probabilities. They make mistakes. A label may be wrong, and an important email may be filed where you do not expect it.
- Check your labels and folders regularly, and do not rely on Ordo Mail as your only way of noticing time-critical, legal, financial or medical messages.
- Ordo Mail never sends, forwards or deletes mail on the AI's decision. It only labels mail and, if you turned that on, moves it out of the inbox into the label's folder.
- You stay responsible for what you do with your mail.
6. Your responsibilities #
You agree to:
- use Ordo Mail only with mailboxes you are entitled to access;
- make sure you are allowed to pass email content from those mailboxes to a processing service (for example, check your employer's rules before connecting a work mailbox);
- not send spam or unlawful content with the app;
- not misuse the Auto Sort service: no attempts to get around the limits, to use the service from anything other than the Ordo Mail app, to resell it, or to disturb it.
If you seriously or repeatedly break these rules, we may suspend Auto Sort for you. If we do, you can ask Apple for a refund of the unused period.
7. Availability and changes #
We work to keep Auto Sort available but do not promise uninterrupted service. Auto Sort depends on third parties (your mail provider, our hosting and AI providers, Apple). We may change the AI models, improve or change features, and adjust the limits for future billing periods; we will announce changes that reduce what you get before they take effect, so you can cancel first.
If we stop offering Auto Sort, we will announce it in the app at least 30 days ahead and stop renewals. The mail app's free functions and the data on your Mac are not affected.
8. Intellectual property #
Ordo Mail and its design belong to us. Your mail and your labels belong to you. We claim no rights in them.
Gmail is a trademark of Google LLC. iCloud, Mac and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc. Ordo Mail is an independent app and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Google or Apple.
9. Warranty and liability #
Ordo Mail is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties that are not written in these terms.
We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and wherever the law does not allow liability to be limited. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Auto Sort in the 12 months before the event, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, or loss caused by a wrongly labelled, moved or missed email.
If you are a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.
10. Apple #
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Ordo Mail or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for claims relating to it (including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims). If the app fails to conform to a warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price where applicable; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm that you are not located in a country under a U.S. Government embargo and are not on a U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
11. Law and disputes #
These terms are governed by the law of Switzerland, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. The courts of Liestal, Canton of Basel-Landschaft, Switzerland have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live and may also bring claims in the courts there.
12. Changes to these terms #
We may update these terms. We will show a notice in the app at least 30 days before a change that affects your rights takes effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel the subscription before then. The current version is always at https://ordomail.app/terms.
